We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Specialist Surgeon to join our team of General Surgeons. The successful candidate will possess specialist skills in either benign upper GI surgery or bariatric surgery.
Key Responsibilities- Join the existing team of 19 General Surgeons providing emergency general surgery and specialist skills in upper GI and bariatric surgery.
- Participate in a 1:8 on-call rota, comprising 24-hour on-call at South Tyneside District Hospital and a separate day and night 12-hour service provision at Sunderland Royal Hospital.
- Contribute to elective and emergency care across both sites, with flexibility in job planning to facilitate access to SRH digital theatres for bariatric surgery.
- Attend regular meetings, including the bariatric MDT at SRH, an endoscopy list at SRH, a General Surgery clinic at STDGH, and a day case theatre list at STDGH.
- Collaborate with admin support based at STDGH to ensure seamless delivery of services.
- Specialist skills in benign upper GI surgery or bariatric surgery.
- Experience in emergency general surgery.
- Ability to work flexibly and participate in on-call rota.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
