Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and control pupils in the dining hall, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Organise dinner queues and entrances, promoting good behaviour and a calm atmosphere.
  • Deal with any incidents or bullying, reporting to the Headteacher or Senior Midday Supervisor as necessary.
  • Direct pupils to seats, separate problem pupils, and encourage social skills and good table manners.
  • Ensure pupils tidy up and clean up spillages, adhering to infection control procedures.
  • Share responsibility with other Midday Supervisors for maintaining order and discipline in the dining hall area.
  • Prepare and use specialist equipment or activities, considering pupils' interests and abilities.
Supervision and Control in the Playground:
  • Collect pupils from classrooms, ensuring they are dressed for the weather.
  • Supervise and control the school entrance during lunch breaks, preventing unauthorized exits.
  • Direct pupils to the playground, supervising their activities and behaviour, and providing emotional support when needed.
  • Prevent bullying, encourage socializing, and participate in games.
  • Report any incidents or bad behaviour to the Headteacher or Senior Midday Supervisor.
Requirements:
  • A sound level of literacy and numeracy.
  • Experience working with children or caring for pupils of relevant age.
  • Understanding of relevant policies, codes of practice, and legislation.
  • Commitment to Equal Opportunities and basic knowledge of child development and learning.
  • Basic food hygiene and first aid knowledge.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with adults and children, demonstrating tact and diplomacy.
  • Confidence in dealing with young people, maintaining discipline, and ensuring their well-being.
