Housekeeping Supervisor II

Norfolk State University's Department of Facilities Management seeks a highly motivated and experienced individual to serve as a Housekeeping Supervisor. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing the work activities of the custodial staff, ensuring a clean and safe environment within college facilities.

• Supervise and train custodial staff to complete daily duties, including cleaning, maintenance, and inventory management.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Develop and implement effective cleaning schedules and procedures to meet the needs of the university community.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations and effective communication.
• Manage and maintain accurate records of employee payroll, leave requests, and supply inventory.

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of training and education.
• Working knowledge of cleaning methods, use of cleaning supplies and equipment, and proper safety techniques.
• Considerable skills in the use of buffers, burnishers, wet and dry vacuums, and other housekeeping equipment.
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and tolerate contact with cleaning products.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

• Training and/or related experience in housekeeping or a related field.
• Hands-on experience in day-to-day cleaning or an institution-type setting.
• General computer knowledge and experience with inventory management systems.
• Some supervisory experience and a valid driver's license.
