About the Position

We are seeking an experienced Ecologist to join our team at Norfolk Wildlife Trust. This role offers the chance to work on a wide range of ecological consultancy contracts, including protected species surveys and assessments, site and habitat surveys, conservation management advice, and ecological Clerk of Works.

You will be responsible for providing high-quality ecological expertise to ensure our clients' projects move forward while protecting and benefiting nature and wildlife. Our team is dedicated to delivering outstanding ecological services, and we are looking for someone with a strong background in survey work and a passion for ecology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct protected species surveys and assessments, including bats, great crested newts, water voles, reptiles, and Schedule 1 birds
  • Lead site and habitat surveys and assessments
  • Provide conservation management advice on species and habitats
  • Work as an Ecological Clerk of Works on selected projects

About You:

  • Hold a degree in ecology or a related field
  • Have a minimum of 2 years' experience working in ecological consultancy or equivalent sectors
  • Possess excellent survey skills, knowledge of UK environmental legislation, and membership of (or working towards) the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM)
  • Enjoy working as part of a small, committed team and relish the challenge of working with a range of clients on different projects
