About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Classroom Assistant to join our vibrant Student Experience Team at The University of Sheffield International College. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring a positive start for our international students and a smooth transition to their university studies.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting individual and small group learning under the supervision of the classroom tutor.
  • Guiding students to improve their understanding by confirming their understanding, encouraging reference to lecture notes and textbooks, and helping students to identify areas of misunderstanding.
  • Maintaining a record of homework completion and other administrative tasks on behalf of the tutor.
  • Providing feedback to the tutor on features of the students' learning.
  • Helping students to maintain a focus on their learning in English.
  • Undertaking marking of formative class tests and checking summary marks under supervision.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • English language competence of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent or above.
  • Subject competence indicated by GCE 'A' Level in the relevant subject area at grade B or above or a grade of 65% or above on the relevant USIC module.
  • Completion of year 1 or above of a cognate undergraduate degree.
  • Ability to work independently and using your own initiative while under supervision.
