We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Manager to take on a new challenge with Deverell Smith Recruitment Ltd.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction, engineering, and architecture, with experience in managing technical teams and ensuring successful project delivery.

  • Manage a Team - The Technical Manager will oversee a Technical Coordinator and external consultants to guarantee project success.
  • Planning and Design - The Technical Manager will provide input into planning design and lead the optimisation process through to approval.
  • Design Team Oversight - The Technical Manager will manage the design team to deliver production information on time and to a high standard.
  • Collaboration - The Technical Manager will collaborate with Land and Planning, and Sales and Marketing teams to prepare technical specifications.
  • Pre-Contract Programme - The Technical Manager will prepare and present the Pre-Contract Programme.
  • Statutory Queries - The Technical Manager will ensure timely submission and follow-up of statutory queries and applications (NHBC, LABC, Building Regulations).
  • Site Inspections - The Technical Manager will conduct regular site inspections and manage Health & Safety matters.
  • Cost Controls - The Technical Manager will liaise with the Commercial team to maintain tight cost controls and budget alignment.
  • Meetings - The Technical Manager will attend various project meetings and coordinate with internal and external parties.
  • Technical Issues - The Technical Manager will resolve technical and construction issues as they arise.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A construction, engineering or architecture qualification
  • A strong understanding of all preconstruction, construction, and planning activities
  • An understanding of contract law (design liability)
  • Strong technical expertise and proficiency with design packages
  • Knowledge of the design and building processes
  • The ability to challenge expensive cost solutions and seek alternative solutions
  • The ability to keep abreast of new technologies, innovation, and contributions to business improvement forums
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations and wider H&S statutory framework
