Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Main Purpose:

Serco is seeking an experienced maintenance professional to join our team at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the hospital's building, fabric, plant, electrical, and mechanical services and equipment are maintained to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform electrical, mechanical, and building planned preventative maintenance to ensure the continued safety, efficiency, and reliability of hospital facilities.
  • Respond to first-line maintenance requests and undertake minor repairs to maintain hospital equipment and systems.
  • Conduct fire alarm testing, lamp replacement, and light cleaning to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Assist with lift entrapment, boiler safety checks, and ventilation grille cleaning to maintain hospital facilities.
  • Perform water safety checks, including temperature monitoring and water sampling, to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
  • Repair leaking taps and perform meter readings to maintain hospital facilities.
  • Conduct fire extinguisher checks and replace fixtures and fittings as needed.
  • Participate in planned Operating Theatre maintenance work to ensure the smooth operation of hospital services.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working in a similar environment, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of general building services, including electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills to interact with hospital staff and patients.
