We are seeking an experienced Senior Automation Systems Developer to join our team at Amazon Data Services UK Limited - E17. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on high-impact projects and contribute to the development of innovative automation solutions.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, with experience in programming languages such as PLC, SCADA/OEE platforms, and systems engineering fundamentals. We are looking for a skilled professional who can design, architect, and implement large-scale automation systems that enhance productivity and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop complex automation systems using PLC/PC controllers, industrial networks, and motor control systems.
  • Program and source code for in-house built solutions based on PLC or PC controllers and SCADA/OEE platforms.
  • Lead international innovation initiatives related to automation systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive business growth.
  • Project manage large-scale initiatives, coordinating site-based Automation Engineers to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • Apply Subject Matter Expertise (SME) on troubleshooting and deep dives for engineering issues, supporting local teams to investigate root causes and plan actions to eliminate/mitigate downtime.
  • Create, optimize, and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for controlling efficiency, availability, and quality of machines, generating reports for improvement purposes.
  • Manage and deal with vendors to plan and coordinate tickets resolution for local teams or network-wide issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and decision-making for collaboration projects or initiatives with other Amazon teams, being a key stakeholder in supporting technical and major network support requests.
  • Evaluate remote troubleshooting capability to ensure 24/7/365 support for all hardware or controls software systems within site locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in professional software/system development.
  • PLC experience is required.
  • Experience in troubleshooting different machines and devices.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems).
