Job Overview

We are seeking a high-calibre Chief Operating Officer (COO) to provide strategic commercial and operational leadership at an exciting stage in our development. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our group.

About the Role

The COO will be responsible for leading our commercial and operational functions, including finance, HR, and facilities management. You will work closely with our senior leadership team to develop and implement strategic plans, drive business growth, and improve operational efficiency.

Our group consists of three member schools: St Albans High School for Girls (STAHS), a top-ranked independent girls' school; STAHS Prep, a preparatory school for girls aged 4-11; and Stormont School, an independent day preparatory school for girls aged 4-11. As COO, you will have the opportunity to work with our schools, staff, and stakeholders to drive innovation and excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the development and implementation of strategic plans to drive business growth and improve operational efficiency.
  2. Oversee commercial and operational functions, including finance, HR, and facilities management.
  3. Collaborate with our senior leadership team to make key decisions and drive business outcomes.
  4. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including schools, staff, and external partners.
  5. Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure the group's strategic objectives are met.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience in a commercial or operational leadership role, preferably in education or a related sector.
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning skills, with the ability to develop and implement business plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a senior leadership team.
