Job Title: Multi-Skilled General Trades Technician

Join the CBS Arena team as a Multi-Skilled General Trades Technician and play a vital role in maintaining the smooth operation of our venue.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out routine maintenance tasks to ensure the venue's facilities and equipment are in good working order.
  • Undertake repairs and maintenance work to woodwork, metalwork, decorating, flooring, and other building fabric elements.
  • Operate a planned preventative maintenance scheme to ensure all doors, locks, ironmongery, door furniture, fixtures, fittings, fire doors, emergency lights, water compliance, and plant checks are up to date.
  • Conduct regular inspections of ladders, steps, and access equipment and record findings.
  • Support the Maintenance Supervisor/ Facilities Coordinator in developing new designs and improvements to facilities to enhance the quality and efficiency of the service provided.
  • Liaise with managers, contractors, and other agencies to ensure exhibitions, designs, displays, and events are executed safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain awareness and adherence to current good working practices that conform to health and safety regulations and legislation.
  • Report any incidents or readings that may indicate serious existing or potential problems to the Facilities Supervisor or other managers.
  • Work a 40-hour, 4 on 4 off shift pattern, including weekends, to cover the Arena's programme of special events and match days.
  • Operate and maintain woodworking machinery and equipment in accordance with codes of practice and safety regulations.
  • Conduct pre-match and post-match checks for all sporting events or major events to all designated areas as determined by the Maintenance Supervisor/Head of Facilities.
Requirements:
  • Hold a City & Guilds qualification or equivalent training in general maintenance trades.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of practical experience working in large commercial buildings, stadiums, exhibition halls, multi-function facilities, hotels, or similar.
  • Be skilled in general building maintenance working practices and safe systems of work.
  • Have a flexible approach and a willingness to train and be developed to meet future needs of the department.
  • Be aware of and committed to the legal requirements for Health & Safety.
