Purchase Ledger Specialist

MCS Group is seeking a highly skilled Purchase Ledger Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for managing the purchase ledger, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, and maintaining excellent relationships with suppliers.
Main Responsibilities:
- Process a high volume of purchase invoices for multiple group companies, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Reconcile supplier statements, investigating and resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Manage payments, including Bacs, TTs, and online banking transfers, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Liaise with suppliers, addressing queries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
- Collaborate with internal staff to resolve invoice and payment queries.
- Ensure the purchase ledger is accurately reconciled to the nominal ledger at each month-end.
- Post general ledger journals as required, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Agree and post contra entries between sales and purchase ledger.
- Process staff expenses, coding, recording mileage, and conducting checks on receipts.
- Prepare and submit revenue ERR submissions.
- Manage deadlines for individual suppliers, ensuring timely payments and compliance with payment terms.
- Perform petty cash reconciliations and bank reconciliations.
- Maintain various cash books and liaise with other staff members in our offices in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
- Prepare reports for month-end reporting and other ad-hoc reports using Microsoft Excel.
- Provide general administrative support as required.
Requirements:
- IATI qualification (desirable)
- Previous experience in purchase ledger, sales ledger, and general ledger (3-5 years)
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, particularly Excel
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
