About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Shift Manager to lead our manufacturing site in Winsford. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing site, minimizing machinery downtime, and improving equipment performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Minimizing Machinery Downtime: Proactively maintain equipment, predict potential issues, and respond swiftly to unexpected breakdowns to maintain production schedules.
  • Improving Performance: Continuously seek opportunities to enhance equipment performance without compromising product quality, optimizing processes, and implementing upgrades.
  • Engineer Engagement: Foster a positive work environment, provide training and development opportunities, and recognize and reward achievements to keep the engineering team engaged and motivated.
  • Asset Care Programme: Lead and support the Morrisons asset care programme, including strategies for maintaining and prolonging asset life, reducing maintenance costs, and ensuring best practices.
  • Hands-On Approach: Be hands-on in repairing and optimizing equipment assets, setting an example for the team and ensuring issues are addressed promptly.
  • Maintenance Coordination: Coordinate maintenance priorities with the Maintenance team to ensure efficient planning and execution, preventing production disruptions and allocating resources effectively.
  • Crisis Incident Management: Prepare to handle crisis incidents, accidents, and near misses, conducting investigations and taking corrective actions to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Discipline and Grievance: Enforce discipline and grievance procedures to maintain order and address issues within the team, upholding standards and addressing misconduct.
About You

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Qualifications to NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in mechanical/electrical engineering or a related field.
  • A proven track record in an engineering and fault-finding role in a FMCG environment, preferably in the food industry.
  • A proven track record of people management and delivering strong results through a team in a people management role.
  • A good understanding of HACCP principles and ideally IEE qualification up to 18th edition wiring regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, assertiveness, and the ability to make decisions on the spot.
  • A can-do attitude and a strong work ethic.
