Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant - Leicester City Centre

We are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at an OFSTED rated 'GOOD' alternative provision in Leicester City Centre. The provision is dedicated to supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Job Summary:

As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with individual students within Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Your role will involve providing tailored support to meet their specific needs across a variety of subject areas. You will collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create a positive and inclusive learning experience for all.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualised support to students with SEMH needs, ensuring their well-being and engagement in learning.
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and minimise disruptions.
  • Assist students in accessing the curriculum, adapting materials as needed.
  • Build strong relationships with students, offering emotional support and encouragement.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs is essential.
  • A relevant teaching assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Ability to deescalate challenging situations and implement effective behaviour management strategies.
  • Compassionate and patient approach to supporting students.
  • Flexibility to meet the diverse needs of individual students.
  • Willingness to collaborate and contribute to a positive school community.
