Purpose of the Job

CBRE Global Workplace Solutions invites experienced Shift Engineers to join our talent pool for current and future opportunities in data centre operations.

As a Data Centre Solutions Engineer, you will work with our team to ensure the smooth operation of data centre facilities and electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Electrical System Maintenance: Ensure site electrical systems are operated and maintained to required codes of practice and industry guidelines.
  2. PPM Management: Maintain and carry out PPMs for as-built equipment in a high-calibre and timely manner.
  3. Day-to-Day Maintenance: Carry out day-to-day maintenance and reactive issues relating to electrical equipment and assets.
  4. Information Management: Complete information and feedback to computer-based systems, particularly the PPM system.
  5. Fault Identification and Rectification: Identify and rectify faults in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, escalating when required.
  6. Electrical Services Installation: Install and modify site electrical services.
  7. Communication: Maintain effective communication with the Shift Supervisor, including plant status, plant isolation, issues arising, ongoing works, and standards of housekeeping.
  8. Reporting: Ensure parts required are clearly stated and any difficulties encountered on engineering activities are reported to the Shift Supervisor.
  9. Housekeeping: Maintain plant areas, workshops, stores, changing/rest areas, etc., to the highest level of housekeeping.
  10. System Operation and Troubleshooting: Operate and troubleshoot the following systems:
  • Building Electrical Installation
  • Emergency Lighting
  • Lighting Control System
  • Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Fire Suppression and Detection Systems
  • Air Conditioning System, VAV, FCUs, and Split Systems
  • AHU, Variable Speed Drives
  • Heating System
  • Generators and Controls
  • Single and Three-Phase Motors
  • UPS System and Associated Control Systems
  • Operation of HV Systems (training and familiarisation will be made available)
Requirements and Skills:
  1. Previous Experience: Previous experience in the Building Services industry
  2. Electrical Qualifications: C&G qualified or equivalent in electrical services/maintenance
  3. Competence: 18th Edition IEE: Wiring & Installation competent
  4. HV Approved Person: HV Approved Person
  5. Confined Space Training: Confined Space entry trained (where required)
  6. Strong Communication Skills: Strong communication skills and ability to deal with all levels of staff
  7. Technical Competence: Demonstrate a good understanding and be technically competent in all building services, particularly UPS, generators, static switches, water treatment, refrigeration, and air conditioning
  8. Proactivity: Proactive in achieving the highest standard of operation
  9. Training and Development: Willing to attend on and off-site training for plant and systems as they are installed
  10. Reliability and Conscientiousness: Reliable and conscientious
  11. Commitment and Technical Competence: Individuals who can demonstrate commitment and technical competence, but do not meet all the requirements, may be considered subject to client approval
  12. Advanced Communication Skills: Advanced communication skills with a full understanding of customer needs and expectations
  13. Ability to Comprehend Instructions: Ability to comprehend and act upon both verbal and written instructions
  14. Integrity, Honesty, and Punctuality: Integrity, honesty, and punctuality is also expected
