Senior Collections Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Collections Manager to join our team at Killerton. As a key member of our House Team, you will be responsible for the daily conservation and cleaning of the house, as well as managing a team of Conservation Assistants and volunteers. You will report to the Collections and House Manager and be a Duty Manager on a rota with other key staff.
Killerton is one of the National Trust's largest special places, with a 6,400-acre estate that welcomes over 500,000 visitors a year. Our team is passionate about delivering excellent standards of care and conservation, and we are looking for someone who shares our commitment to excellence.
As Senior Collections Manager, you will be responsible for implementing preventive conservation and cleaning programmes in the house, as well as planning and implementing conservation projects. You will also be responsible for collecting and accurately recording information to inform our understanding of the house and the collection.
We are looking for someone with outstanding people leadership skills and experience of working with and managing volunteers. You should also have operational experience of collections management and care in an historic environment, including relevant collections management systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage a team of Conservation Assistants and volunteers
- Implement preventive conservation and cleaning programmes in the house
- Plan and implement conservation projects
- Collect and accurately record information to inform our understanding of the house and the collection
- Work with the Collections and House Manager to deliver excellent standards of care and conservation
Requirements
- Outstanding people leadership skills and experience of working with and managing volunteers
- Operational experience of collections management and care in an historic environment, including relevant collections management systems
- Good knowledge of Health and Safety and Emergency Procedures
- Good organisational skills, with strong attention to detail
- Good communication skills
