About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our team as a Deputy SENCo in a mainstream secondary school in Merton. The successful candidate will provide tailored support for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and work closely with the SENCo to address individual needs and promote independent learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide targeted support for students, teachers, and the wider school community to raise achievement standards.
- Assist in planning, monitoring, and assessing learning activities, fostering student independence and engagement.
- Lead and manage the SEN team, overseeing the work of ELSA-trained staff and the day-to-day operations of the SEN Department.
- Act as a named Key Worker for specific students, developing and implementing Student Support Plans (SSPs).
- Organise provision for students, coordinating with external agencies and services as needed.
Requirements
- Experience working with students with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and lead others.
- Knowledge of SEN legislation and policies.
