Computer Vision Engineer Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled Computer Vision Engineer Lead to join our Trust & Safety team at Bumble. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machine learning, computer vision, and software development, with a proven track record of delivering innovative solutions.
As a member of our team, you will work closely with data scientists, engineers, and product managers to design, develop, and deploy state-of-the-art machine learning models that improve the safety and user experience of our platform. You will also participate in cutting-edge research in computer vision and collaborate with other teams to leverage the large and complex datasets at our disposal.
The estimated salary for this position is $200,000 - $250,000 per year, based on industry standards and market research. We offer a competitive benefits package, including comprehensive health insurance, flexible PTO, and professional development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of new computer vision technologies and machine learning models that improve the safety and user experience of our platform
- Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and product managers to design, develop, and deploy innovative solutions
- Conduct cutting-edge research in computer vision and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in the field
- Develop and maintain large-scale machine learning models and deploy them on container orchestrators (K8s, Kubeflow, etc)
- Partner with business functions and engineering teams to help frame problems into scalable AI solutions and solve key problems by leveraging the large and complex datasets at our disposal
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth and development of the team
Requirements
- An advanced degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or a similar quantitative discipline - a Ph.D. is a bonus
- Proven experience in ML with a Computer Vision focus and leadership experience in a similar role
- Experience in designing, developing, and training ML models for large-scale deployments and leading teams of engineers
- Experience in deploying high-load ML applications on container orchestrators (K8s, Kubeflow, etc) and managing complex technical projects
- Understanding of software development life cycle processes and tools - ETL pipelines, CI/CD, MLOps, agile methodologies, version control (git), testing frameworks
- Experience accessing and combining data from multiple sources and building data pipelines
- Strong statistical modelling background - hypotheses testing, inference, regressions, random variables
- Ability to lead and manage teams of engineers, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
- A passion for keeping up with the latest ongoings in Data Science and Machine Learning communities and mentoring junior engineers
- A curious mind, self-starter and endlessly keen to learn and develop themselves professionally
