The successful candidate will be joining one of the largest Acute Oncology Units in the country, providing front-door assessments to patients who experience side effects from cancer or its treatments. This role will help you develop the skills to become a UKONS telephone triage nurse, where you will triage patients over the phone and direct them to the appropriate pathways.
As a Nurse Leader for this service, you will provide professional nursing leadership to the team and have excellent communication skills. You will be responsible for providing high standards of care for patients, carrying out all aspects of nursing by planning, implementing, and evaluating care. You will also maintain clear and accurate records of observations and treatments, ensuring compliance with UHS policies and standards of the trust.
In addition, you will encourage effective working relationships and the development of a cohesive nursing team, working with a common philosophy. You will stay updated with clinical developments and research findings, initiate changes that benefit the standard of care for patients, and encourage staff to do the same.
You will take charge of the day-to-day service and coordinate cancer care admissions and inpatient bed flow. You will also have flexibility in shift patterns and hold the staffing bleep for cancer care, being involved in staffing to ensure safe staffing levels.

Requirements- Nationally recognized qualifications as a Registered Nurse
- Significant post-registration experience/qualification/training, including experience and knowledge within relevant specialty
- Ward management experience
- Knowledge of current issues within acute health services
- Ability to demonstrate clinical decision making and judgment
- Commitment to the post and Care Group responsibilities
- Commitment to continuing professional development
