Essex County Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join our award-winning Mental Health and Justice team as a Practice Supervisor. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a dedicated team of professionals who are passionate about making a real difference to the lives of children and young people.

About the Role

The Practice Supervisor will be responsible for delivering case supervision and holding a caseload of more complex cases. They will also carry out quality assurance activities and measure outcomes to continue to develop innovative, sustainable methods of intervention, leading to successful long-term strategies.

The post holder will be a highly experienced senior social worker with a professional qualification in social work and evidence of excellent practice in casework, recording, and assessment. Flexibility and ability to build strong partnerships are essential for this role as the post will operate in a multi-agency environment, across 3 local authorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver case supervision and hold a caseload of more complex cases
  • Carry out quality assurance activities and measure outcomes
  • Develop and deliver bespoke upskill programmes across the system
  • Cultivate innovative ways of working and testing new initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with children's mental health services, Youth Justice Service, children's social care, and other agencies

Requirements

  • Accredited degree or diploma level, professional qualification in social work
  • Evidence of substantial continuing professional development and expert knowledge in relevant professional area
  • Evidence of direct engagement with young people and successful delivery of 1-1, direct, and indirect interventions
  • Proven ability to work within evidence-informed frameworks and knowledge of criminogenic factors
  • Substantial experience of building strong partnerships and developing and delivering bespoke training and consultancy
