About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic candidate to join our team as a Mechanical Engineering Workshop Apprentice. This exciting opportunity combines work-based training with experienced engineering technicians in the Radiation Physics mechanical workshop at Charing Cross Hospital, alongside fully funded block-release study at a local college.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gain a BTEC National Diploma at Level 3 Engineering Technician Standard
  • Develop technical skills and knowledge to support a career in mechanical engineering
  • Work alongside electronics engineers to maintain, repair, and service linear accelerator treatment machines
  • Design and manufacture components to support treatment within the Radiotherapy department
  • Train to use CAD to design parts and assemblies, and produce engineering drawings
  • Operate a range of machinery, including 3D printers, milling machines, lathes, grinders, and MIG/TIG welders
