Job Title: Mechanical HVAC/Plant Engineer

To contribute to the delivery of an efficient and effective Estates Maintenance service at Maidstone Hospital, working as part of the Estates Department team.

Work independently, providing maintenance, repairs, and replacement services as necessary to mechanical service systems, plant, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Resolve issues with air conditioning equipment, heating, and cooling assets.
  • Maintain AC/AHU units throughout the Trust via reactive and preventative maintenance.
  • Conduct plantroom inspections and remedials to monitor and maintain the operational status of essential mechanical and electrical plant.
  • Undertake reactive repairs and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to prolong the life expectancy of equipment/plant.
  • Record work carried out via a software package.
  • Have a good understanding of steam and condensate pipework and associated valves, steam traps, fittings, etc.
  • Air handling units (AHUs), water chillers, and air conditioning plant.
  • Steam and low-pressure hot water calorifiers.
  • Heating pipework CT and VT systems, pumps, bearings, mechanical seals, etc.
  • Industrial, commercial, and domestic hot/cold water systems.
  • Control of environmental conditions using a Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Assist various other trades and work on a wide range of hospital equipment.
  • Work with minimal supervision and undertake both reactive and planned maintenance.
