Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic Strategy Lead to help drive growth and shape the future of the Strategy Unit within the Safer Greener Buildings group. This prestigious team was established in response to the Grenfell Tower fire, with a mission to ensure buildings are safe and residents feel secure. The £10 billion remediation programme is one of the largest government initiatives, with significant political and stakeholder interest.

The Strategy Unit is a collaborative environment that fosters innovative strategic thinking, tackling complex policy considerations and urgent demands. As a key player, you will lead teams to provide direction to the programme's strategy and help solve critical problems. You will work closely with the Head of the Strategy Unit to build strategic capacity across teams and engage with senior leadership to address challenges.

This role offers a unique opportunity to gain experience working across various policy areas, with significant exposure to senior decision-making. You will collaborate with teams across programmes, policy, and strategy departments, as well as Whitehall, to deliver high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain the remediation portfolio strategy, ensuring ministerial priorities are delivered and anticipating threats to the portfolio.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver objectives, maintaining an inclusive environment and promoting continuous improvement.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with Private Offices, programme teams, policy teams, central strategy teams, and others.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Critical and creative thinking, with the ability to develop strategic solutions to complex situations.
  • Strong organisational skills, effectively managing multiple priorities and delivering high-quality results.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, developing positive relationships with stakeholders at all levels and across organisational boundaries.
  • Leadership experience, providing cross-cutting leadership and challenging seniors when necessary.
