Chemical Safety Manager

We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to support the delivery of our Eastern Green Link 2 (EGL2) project. This project involves the construction of sister HVDC converter stations at Peterhead, Aberdeenshire and Drax, Yorkshire.
Your Responsibilities- Supervise and support safety advisors to ensure the project meets relevant safety standards.
- Develop and implement safety systems and plans to mitigate risks.
- Ensure safety issues are discussed at project review meetings and that all relevant personnel are aware of safety protocols.
- Advise and guide project teams on setting up and maintaining safety systems.
- Maintain accurate records to comply with company audit standards.
- Assist managers with safety submissions, risk assessments, and vendor evaluations.
- Communicate and promote health and safety management ethos and concepts, delivering training as required.
- Ensure the project adheres to relevant statutory health and safety documentation.
- Prepare monthly reports and submit in agreed format.
- Conduct site safety inspections and identify areas for improvement.
- Monitor accident inspection and reporting, carrying out safety audits and liaising with the project manager.
- Successful experience as a Project Health and Safety Manager and as a supervisor or engineer within a construction environment.
- Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g. NEBOSH Diploma) or related discipline, or appropriate proven knowledge and experience (minimum of 3 years).
- Able to communicate effectively at all levels within the project organization.
- Able to deliver health and safety training as instructed by the head of health and safety.
- Able to act as a team leader.
- Thorough knowledge of OHSAS 45001 standards. Chartered membership of IOSH.
- Capable of leading accident investigations.
- Business acumen with full understanding of the commercial impact of decisions.
- Knowledge and experience of operational activities (overhead, underground, and substation) on transmission/distribution networks desirable.
