RAF Fire Service Career Opportunities

We invite applications from motivated and capable individuals to join our team as Sponsored Reserve Firefighters. This role offers the chance to combine civilian and military firefighting, contributing to the success of the Defence estate.

Responsibilities
  • Deploy overseas for 4 months, followed by 16 months in the UK, as part of the RAF Firefighter force.
  • Provide Aerodrome & Rescue Firefighting capability to Defence across the UK and overseas.
  • Respond to emergencies on the Defence estate and provide fire safety awareness.
  • Support operations and exercises in challenging environments when deployed.
Essential Requirements
  • Citizen of the UK or Republic of Ireland, or Commonwealth citizen from birth.
  • Resided in the UK for 5 years preceding application (candidates with 3 years considered).
  • Minimum Grade C or 4-5 in GCSE English Language and Mathematics, or SCE Standard Grade 3 in English and Maths equivalent.
  • Current full driving license required.
  • Fitness tests include Selection Fitness Test, Pre-Joining Fitness Test, and Pre-recruit Training Course requirements vary according to role, age, and gender.
  • Meet health requirements including Body Mass Index, eyesight, and medical conditions that may preclude entry into the RAF reserves.
