About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Systems and Database Infrastructure Specialist to join our team at Vertex IT Solutions Ltd.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the availability and performance of our corporate applications by implementing, configuring, maintaining, and performing critical SQL Server RDBMS systems.

The role requires excellent technical skills, interpersonal skills, and communication skills. The successful candidate will also be responsible for providing technical support for systems developed or adapted within the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Implement, configure, and maintain SQL Server RDBMS systems to ensure high availability and consistent performance.
  2. Manage database security and safety, and ensure the smooth operation of backups, replication/mirroring processes, DTS processes, queries, and other scheduled services.
  3. Maintain databases and processes, perform scheduled maintenance, and support release deployment when required.
  4. Perform data migration and database upgrade projects across different platforms/versions.
  5. Analyse, solve, and correct issues in real-time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
  6. Automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
  7. Provide technical support for systems developed or adapted within the company.
  8. Set up and create reports using SQL Reporting Services and other reporting tools, as requested by management and the business.
  9. Review and implement resilience within all databases and fix identified security vulnerabilities.
  10. Liaise with other IT support teams, business areas, and third parties in the investigation, resolution, and escalation of problems and incidents.
  11. Assist in maintaining internal tools and systems including software upgrades and software pilots.
  12. Create and maintain technical documentation relating to system design.
  13. Complete impact assessments for any changes to production instances.
  14. Provide out-of-normal office hours support as and when required.
