About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Trainee Teaching Assistant to join our team at Underley Garden School, part of Options Autism. As a Trainee Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our pupils with complex needs, including Autism, SEMH, ADHD, Non-Verbal and Pre-Verbal and Communicational difficulties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils with their emotional and physical needs, helping them to develop as individuals and engage with the world.
  • Prepare learning materials and run classroom activities, with plenty of hands-on experience and some supervision.
  • Take responsibility for personal care duties to support our students.
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching team to deliver high-quality education and care to our pupils.
Requirements
  • GCSE C or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • No prior experience is necessary, as we will provide full training and development to support your success in the role.
  • Adaptability and a willingness to work in a variety of classroom roles, both indoors and outside, according to individual need.

Underley Garden School is a large school with small class sizes, focusing on pupils and young people, aged 5-19, who have a range of complex needs associated with autism and learning disabilities. We aim to make a positive difference to the personal, social and learning lives of the people entrusted to our care.
