Job Title: Carer for Young Person with Special NeedsDescription:

This is a unique opportunity to work as a carer for a 17-year-old with quadriplegic cerebral palsy and use of a wheelchair. The role involves working one afternoon per week, with the possibility of increasing days as required.

The young person has a charming personality and enjoys walks, train and bus spotting, books, and stories. He uses simple communication devices and gestures, including an iPad, to express his needs and preferences.

The duties of this position include:

  • Meeting the young person from the school bus drop-off at his home.
  • Setting up his afternoon gastro feed (training to be provided).
  • Play sessions, books, communication aid work.
  • Walks into town and the local library (his home is a 10-minute walk from the centre).
  • Some clothes changing and general care.

We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate commitment, patience, initiative, creativity, and empathy in this rewarding role.
