Electronics Engineering Lead

In Cambridge, a unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electronics Engineer to take on a leadership role at the Redline Group Ltd, a renowned manufacturer of specialist fire detectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving innovation and excellence in electronics engineering while ensuring collaboration across departments.
The Electronics Engineering Lead will oversee the delivery of work plans, provide hands-on guidance, and act as the main point of contact for all electronics-related matters. This includes planning, refining, and overseeing project timelines, managing recruitment, training, and professional development of the Electronics Team, and ensuring designs align with production and lifecycle considerations.
Key responsibilities include acting as a Design Authority for electronics within the company, maintaining strong relationships with third-party suppliers (e.g., EMC test houses, PCB agencies), documenting and enforcing best practices, procedures, and processes, and providing technical expertise to deliver high-quality designs. Additionally, the Electronics Engineering Lead will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and effective communication throughout the product development lifecycle.

About the Role
The successful Electronics Engineering Lead will have extensive experience developing electronic products, especially in regulated environments, and proficiency in tools such as Altium 365 and modern collaboration platforms like JIRA, Confluence, and MS Teams. A demonstrated success in delivering high-quality designs and working with FEMAs and MTBFs is essential. Experience managing supplier relationships and procurement, along with strong technical authoring abilities and familiarity with Microsoft Office, are also highly valued.
