Job Summary:

This role supports the Health Physics Manager and RPA in maintaining radiological oversight and control of assigned buildings, ensuring adequate Health Physics services can be provided in normal, abnormal, and emergency conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with decommissioning activities, including entries into areas with RPE.
  • Perform Health Physics Surveys (radiation and contamination) and complete Health Physics Survey Reports.
  • Utilize air sampling equipment to ensure accurate data collection.
  • Maintain the functionality of Health Physics survey equipment.
  • Provide Health Physics coverage of operations as directed by Health Physics Supervisors.
  • Ensure Health Physics Clearance of items removed from controlled areas.
  • Maintain stock of Respiratory Protective Equipment/Personal Protection Equipment.
  • Perform contamination-controlled area dresser barrier duties, including organizing laundry of clothing.
  • Instruct trainee surveyors in radiation protection practices.
  • Radiologically coach staff members with whom they work.
  • Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.
Requirements:
  • City and Guilds level 1 radiological protection qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years' surveying experience, ideally with air-fed suit operations.
  • Proven knowledge of Radiological Protection, Decommissioning activities, and radioactive waste management.
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to a changing work environment.
  • IOSH Managing Safely desirable qualification.

The successful applicant must be a British national and eligible to hold a DV level of security clearance.
