Process Engineer

Gerrell & Hard Ltd. is seeking a skilled Process Engineer to join our team in Portsmouth. As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and improvement of equipment and processes associated with manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and maintain production process documentation and safe working practices.
- Resolve process/product issues to maintain production output.
- Conduct diagnostics, root cause analysis, and corrective action plan deployment for test/yield issues.
- Identify and implement process improvements, including jigs, fixtures, and tooling.
- Manage process/product change implementation.
- Introduce new products into production with associated equipment, tooling, processes, and documentation.
- Develop, validate, and introduce new production/test processes.
- Investigate new technologies and work with outside support companies to support equipment and processes.
- Budget, specify, and install new equipment.
- Maintain production equipment and systems.
- Consider process layout, timings, capacity, and materials flow.
- Design quality into the process and ensure error-proofing is implemented wherever possible.
- Introduce lean manufacturing methodologies and cost reduction initiatives.
- Ensure EHS provisions are in place for equipment and processes, including risk assessments.
- Coordinate prototype, pilot, and pre-production builds.
- Train production operatives as required.
- Deputise for team leaders and support other projects as required.
- Meet project task and milestone deadlines.
- Ensure process and equipment availability to meet manufacturing needs.
- Maintain and gain required certification to standards.
- Projects: on-time, delivered scope, on budget.
- Health & Safety: accidents, near misses, improvement actions.
- Quality: yield, quality escapes, aging NCRs, scrap.
- Delivery: OTD, past due, fulfilment to customer request.
- Productivity: headcount, sales/head, GM/head, productivity projects, product cost down, OEE.
- Experience of equipment and processes relevant to Hi-Rel product manufacture.
- Lean operational implementations experience.
- Project management of improvement and capital projects.
- Aerospace/defence experience preferred.
- Electronics manufacturing experience a significant advantage.
- Strong influencer and cross-functional relationship builder.
- Confident presenter to customers and internal stakeholders.
- High level of organisation and planning skills.
- HND (NQV Level 4) in Engineering or equivalent industrial experience.
