Job Summary

The role of a Robotics Systems Engineer in the Reliability and Automation Engineering Team involves working with cross-functional teams to drive the implementation and continuous improvement of world-class maintenance, repair, and supportability solutions for Amazon Robotics portfolio. You will analyze large-scale data from databases, PLCs, sensors, controls equipment, maintenance records, and other performance data streams to identify improvement opportunities. With strong analytical skills and experience in reliability engineering, manufacturing engineering, or lifecycle engineering, you will engage customers to understand business requirements and manage implementation programs for corrective actions.

Main Responsibilities

  • Utilize data analytics, root cause analysis, design of experiments, and Six Sigma methods to improve reliability and availability of critical automation equipment and robotics & mechatronics systems.
  • Demonstrate analytical and quantitative skills to develop business cases and justify need for change.
  • Develop and deliver impactful data-driven analyses to recommend alternative technical approaches.
  • Effectively interact and collaborate with Customers, engineers, software development engineers, Technical Program Managers, and multiple internal teams to define and deliver complex solutions.
  • Lead Kaizen and process improvement events, including Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEA), to reduce downtime, eliminate errors, and defects.
  • Design, pilot, and implement new preventative maintenance standards, interval adjustments, part replacement cycles, and work instruction streamlining based on granular analysis of reliability trends.
  • Drive effective teamwork, communication, collaboration, and commitment across multiple disparate groups with competing priorities.
  • Provide guidance to maintenance teams and field technicians on equipment maintenance and complex issue troubleshooting and resolution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical STEM or Engineering discipline, such as Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Computer Science, Software / Systems Development, Mathematics / Statistics, or comparable scientific or technical degree from an accredited university.
  • Experience in reliability engineering, manufacturing engineering, lifecycle engineering, or related roles, with demonstrated specialization in robotics and mechatronics.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience required, with demonstrated success leading Kaizen events.
  • Ability to travel to various sites as needed, globally.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to influence others in a technical role.
