Job Title: Postdoctoral Research Assistant in High Redshift Galaxies

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the University of Oxford. The successful candidate will work with Professor Andy Bunker and the NIRSpec Instrument Science Team (IST) on galaxy evolution at high redshift.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research on galaxy evolution through the analysis and interpretation of spectroscopy of high redshift galaxies.
  • Attend relevant team meetings and present work.
  • Work within an international collaboration, reporting to the broader team (the NIRSpec-IST and the JADES collaboration), and adhere to the collaboration agreement and publication policy.
  • Conduct independent research in the area of galaxy evolution.
  • Contribute ideas for new research projects, review and refine working hypotheses, and adapt existing and develop new scientific techniques to meet the goals of the project.
  • Collaborate in the preparation of scientific papers and publish the research in refereed journals.
  • Attend international conferences to promote your own research, that of the Oxford group, and that of the wider collaboration.
  • Promote your work to the general public through active engagement.
Requirements:
  • Hold a Ph.D./D.Phil in astrophysics or a relevant field.
About the Role:

This is a fixed-term position available until 30 April 2025. The postdoctoral researcher will have the opportunity to teach if they wish, including lecturing, small group teaching, and tutoring of undergraduates and graduate students.
