Job Description

The Risk Underwriter plays a crucial role in reviewing credit limit requests from both new and existing customers, as well as monitoring their buyer portfolio through annual and ad-hoc reviews. This includes financial and political risk analysis, applying underwriting principles and guidelines to support new risks or modify existing strategies.

Where required, the Risk Underwriter will undertake calls with buyers to discuss their financial position or material sector/market events. They will also occasionally attend calls with customers to present our underwriting approach for certain markets or discuss specific buyers.

The Risk Underwriter is responsible for monitoring developments in their markets, presenting at Country Committee and to customers as/when required, and updating internal Country Underwriting Guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review credit limit requests from new and existing customers
  • Monitor buyer portfolio through annual and ad-hoc reviews
  • Conduct financial and political risk analysis
  • Apply underwriting principles and guidelines
  • Undertake calls with buyers and customers
  • Present underwriting cases and markets at Credit and Country Committees
  • Update internal Country Underwriting Guidelines
