We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Legal Director to lead our Legal Services team and support the council's service delivery portfolios.

About the Role

As Senior Legal Director, you will be responsible for managing a team of 24 legal professionals, including solicitors, trainees, and paralegals. You will handle a technical legal caseload of complex, politically sensitive cases, providing direction and leadership to ensure services meet the Council's quality standards, performance targets, budgetary control, and legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of legal professionals to deliver high-quality legal services
  • Handle a technical legal caseload of complex, politically sensitive cases
  • Provide direction and leadership to ensure services meet the Council's quality standards
  • Support the council's service delivery portfolios
  • Represent the Council at senior-level stakeholder events
Requirements
  • Several years post-qualification experience in your area(s) of practice
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
  • Proven experience in the public sector as a Head of Legal, Monitoring Officer or Deputy Monitoring Officer
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and training
