Job Title: Compensation and Benefits Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to work on an 18 month fixed term contract in Havant, supporting an insourced payroll with an estimated employee headcount of 1,800.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the payroll processing life cycle from new hire to termination, including year end reporting requirements. Key skills and qualifications include experience with insourced/in-house end-to-end payroll, thorough understanding of current payroll legislation, manual payroll calculations, data collation and analytical skills, high level of accuracy, prioritization, interpersonal and communication skills, and proficiency with MS Office applications.

A competitive salary of £40,000 - £50,000 per annum is offered, along with a four-day working week, allowing for a three-day weekend every week. The role involves predominantly working from home, with some travel to our offices near Portsmouth. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including pension scheme, life assurance, and flexible working arrangements.

Responsibilities:

  • Processing day-to-day UK payrolls, ensuring liaison and coverage with the team.
  • Working alongside the Senior Payroll Specialist to manage timely delivery of payroll deliverables and ensure backup for checking and audit activities.
  • Checking and maintaining accuracy of employee records, verifying payment and deduction changes, maintaining Tax & NI records, pension records, and statutory payments.
  • Process adjustments such as reversals, returned overpayments, and ad hoc payments, ensuring HMRC receive correct data by applicable deadline.

Other duties include post-payroll activities, such as payslip printing, P45 production, submission of Pension Reports to 3rd party providers, working with the Senior Payroll Specialist on year-end requirements, dealing with anomalies and enquiries relating to pay, and complying with filing and record retention requirements.
