We are collaborating closely with a local authority in Lewisham to assist with the recruitment of a Cafe Assistant, on a 3-month contract, which is likely to be extended at the client's discretion.

Salary: £14.68 - £18.81 per hour

Working Hours: 21.25 hours per week

Responsibilities:

  • Main Ordering and Shopping Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for ordering supplies, food, etc., and daily shopping as agreed upon with the Site Manager.
  • Food Service: Serving hot and cold food to a diverse community.
  • Cleanliness and Maintenance: Cleaning cookers, sinks, table tops, microwave, and appliances while ensuring a high standard of cleanliness and safety at all times within the cafe.
  • Security Measures: Ensuring that all equipment and stock are securely locked away.
  • Financial Management: Collecting and recording income, balancing till and cash, and recording wastage and stock levels, reporting these to the Site Manager.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Multicultural Community Understanding: Having an understanding of the needs of adult education students from a multicultural community.
  • Cafe Experience: Experience of working in a cafe environment.
  • Safety and Hygiene Knowledge: An understanding of the hygiene and safety requirements of a cafe.

Note:

  • Availability: The ideal candidate should be available to start work immediately or at short notice.
  • Work Visa: The candidate should have the right to work in the UK.
