Job Overview

Venesky-Brown is a public sector organisation in Edinburgh seeking a Senior Communications Officer to join their team from January 2025 until the end of March 2025, with potential to extend. The successful candidate will work on a hybrid schedule, dividing time between working at home and in the office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively increasing the promotion, awareness, and understanding of the organisation across Scotland through various projects.
  • Developing and implementing the organisation's Communications and Engagement Strategy.
  • Producing social media content, such as video clips and graphics, and expanding the website and educational resources.
  • Devising key metrics to evaluate the success of these projects.
  • Supporting the Communications Manager in their duties, which include media handling, social media activity, and promoting the organisation's work.

Essential Skills:

  • Communications training and experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience in drafting and presenting various materials for the media, social media, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Ability to offer constructive challenge and work autonomously or collaboratively to meet high-volume work demands.
  • Experience in website development, content management systems, media handling, events handling, and social media management.

Desirable Skills:

  • Project management skills.
  • Experience in drafting easy-read material.
  • Proficiency in using Umbraco and InDesign.
