Job Description

The Playhouse is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Youth Engagement Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating youth programs of varying scale and complexity, both on and off site, with a particular focus on BRIDGE and The Open Arts Pathway.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in developing young people through informal and formal educational attainment, with a focus on best practice in inclusive creative learning. They will also have experience in recruiting and contracting artists, creative facilitators, and partners, as well as managing finances and general administration.

The successful candidate will be committed to understanding best practice in inclusive creative learning, appreciating and understanding barriers to access and educational attainment. They will also be able to build strong relationships with organizations working to improve the lives and creative opportunities of young people.

The role is a 2-year, fixed-term full-time contract, and the successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues across The Playhouse to contribute to the difference we make for the people and communities we serve.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate youth programs of varying scale and complexity, both on and off site
  • Develop and implement best practice in inclusive creative learning
  • Recruit and contract artists, creative facilitators, and partners
  • Manage finances and general administration
  • Build strong relationships with organizations working to improve the lives and creative opportunities of young people
Requirements
  • At least 3 years' experience in developing and coordinating arts-based learning and participation activities
  • Experience recruiting artists, creative facilitators, and partners
  • Experience of highly effective relationship management within an arts, educational, or related field
  • Experience and understanding of best practice in children and vulnerable adult safeguarding
  • Competent and confident on MS office systems
  • Learner-focused with a high level of emotional intelligence and empathy
  • Able to work independently and manage a varied and diverse project portfolio
