Maintenance Supervisor Job Description

Key Objectives:

  • To be the primary point of contact for all daily maintenance work, escalating as necessary.
  • To ensure the site is secure, safe, and well-maintained to the required standard.

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. To act as the responsible maintenance supervisor for Rhondda Heritage Park, ensuring the premises are secure, safe, and maintained to the required standard.
  2. To provide necessary assistance to the Duty Manager in delivering events at the Welsh Mining Experience.
  3. To drive provided vehicles and move equipment between locations, subject to age and license requirements.
  4. To manage the movement of equipment and supplies between locations.
  5. To assist with setting up and organizing events at the Welsh Mining Experience in line with council priorities.
  6. To contribute to undertaking risk assessments for events in accordance with HSE requirements.
  7. To hold keys for premises under their responsibility.
  8. To monitor and adjust lighting and heating of premises.
  9. To be responsible for car parking arrangements, including overspill arrangements.
  10. To respond to cleaning of premises as required.
  11. To be responsible for storage and use of chemicals in line with COSHH regulations.
  12. To perform porterage duties as required, within physical capacity limits and Health & Safety guidelines.
  13. To conduct regular building condition checks to identify maintenance issues and Health & Safety risks.
  14. To take responsibility for checking weather forecasts and taking necessary measures to prevent freezing of water systems and paths during severe weather.
  15. To maintain grounds, including use of appropriate machinery.
  16. To liaise with RCT Corporate Estates to arrange repair and maintenance works and check work upon completion.
  17. To undertake any other duties in line with the post, including maintaining fire notices, alarm testing, first aid, and fire marshal training.
  18. To liaise with external contractors, monitoring their work to ensure safe working practices.
  19. To carry out emergency procedures in the event of a fire, flood, break-in, accident, or major damage.
  20. To be responsible for Health & Safety processes, including reporting incidents in line with Health & Safety guidance.
  21. To undertake risk assessments in relation to the building.
  22. To ensure availability of facilities and equipment as per the booking programme, including special events and functions.
  23. To manage maintenance work practices of tour guides and volunteers, providing instruction, training, and advice as necessary.
  24. To supervise customers in any area of the building or immediate external environs, providing advice or instruction as required.
  25. To provide management cover of the building and cover subordinate staff as necessary to ensure adequate supervisory cover.
  26. To conduct regular inspections of the building and immediate outside areas to ensure appropriate safety, cleaning, maintenance, and housekeeping standards.
  27. To train and oversee designated staff in maintenance and upkeep of specific specialist equipment.
  28. To be responsible for recording and upkeep of RAMIS systems.
  29. To be the nominated point of contact for Corporate Estates and contractors to the site, ensuring asbestos records are signed.
  30. To ensure maintenance contracts are up to date and in line with procurement policies.
  31. To keep up to date and record safety processes and report to the Operational Manager.
  32. To be flexible and transferable within the role, understanding that with reasonable notice, they can be redesignated to another Parks or leisure facility within Rhondda Cynon Taf CBC.

Health and Safety Responsibilities:

  • To carry out Health and Safety responsibilities in accordance with the Division's Health & Safety Responsibilities document.
  • To undertake such other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the grade, as may be reasonably required by the Service Director, or as a mutually agreed development opportunity.

Review and Amendment:

  • The contents of this document will be subject to review from time to time in consultation with the post holder.
  • Job descriptions may be amended to reflect and record such changes.
