Job Title: Advanced Scrub Practitioner

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Scrub Practitioner to join our Inpatient Theatres team in Orthopaedic, Neurology, and Spinal surgery at Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust.

Job Overview:

  • The primary focus of this role is to provide high-quality patient-centered care as part of the Theatre department, reflecting the Trust's objectives, values, and vision.
  • The practitioner will be responsible for their own professional conduct in line with NMC/HCPC Code of Conduct and adhere to all Trust and local policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a patient's advocate and ensure patients' wishes, choices, and beliefs are taken into account in the decision-making process as necessary in collaboration with the family.
  • Maintain safe and effective patient care, ensuring that working practices conform to Theatre and Trust policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and legible records of care in line with Trust policy and NMC/HCPC Code of Conduct.
  • Maintain a culture in which infection control is intrinsic to care delivery, and is monitored in line with Trust policy.

About Us:

Alder Hey Children's Hospital cares for over 330,000 children, young people, and their families every year. As one of Europe's biggest and busiest children's hospitals, we treat everything from common illnesses to highly complex and specialist conditions.

We offer paediatric services at a number of community sites and hold local clinics across Merseyside, Cumbria, Shropshire, Wales, and the Isle of Man. We also provide specialist inpatient care for children with complex mental health needs at our Alder Park Building in North Liverpool.

Person Specification:

  • Nursing or ODP professional registration
  • 2 years post-registration theatre experience
  • Theatre Specific Qualification (for NMC registrants only)
  • Good communication, both written and verbal
  • Surgical first assistant qualification or working towards
  • Paediatric theatre experience
  • Mentorship qualification or equivalent
