About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Construction Fitter to join our team in the Southern region.

  • Company vehicle provided.
  • Training provided to gain further authorisations.
  • Overtime & travel time available.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time

The successful candidate will be responsible for constructing electrical apparatus within substations on the electricity distribution network from 11kV up to 132kV.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Safe delivery of construction projects in live electricity substation environments in line with operational safety rules and safety legislation.
  2. Installation of fixed relays onto existing relay panels.
  3. Installation and commissioning of CT Metering apparatus.

As an ambassador for Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks, the successful candidate will be expected to deliver world-class customer service and protect the SSE brand.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the electricity distribution network and experience of working in live electricity substation environments from 11kV - 132kV.
  • Previous experience will include working on DC battery systems, internal panel wiring modification, multicore cable terminating and glanding, wiring circuit breakers, CT's/VT's to marshalling kiosks and control panels, AC/DC wiring and replacing 33kV outdoor circuit breakers and isolators.
  • A high regard for safety, especially on construction sites and CDM regulations with strong customer service skills.
  • Previous electricity network operational authorisations would be extremely beneficial as would training and qualifications in scaffold, telehandler, furzeweld, working at height, confined space, asbestos, COSHH, Loler and SMSTS.
  • A clean driving licence and a flexible approach to working hours and work location is a must.
