Senior Project Security Officer

A challenging opportunity has arisen for a Senior Project Security Officer to join our prestigious client's team. This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days per week at their offices in Crawley.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensuring project teams remain compliant with current security guidelines and legislation.
  2. Drafting and developing Technology Control Plans and Security Procedures that ensure compliance while enabling effective working methods.
  3. Liaising with UK IS and Security teams to ensure our needs are represented in UK policy and procedures and that our understanding of such policies and procedures is properly disseminated to our teams and their working instructions.
  4. Conducting and/or organizing security audits/assessments to test adherence to business policies and procedures.
  5. Maintaining a register of PSOs for the CBU and corresponding register of SALs.
  6. Working with PSOs to develop a clear implementation framework for the SAL, including any modifications to standard ways of working. Looking for inconsistencies or possible operational improvements in the SAL and supporting discussions with the customer.
  7. Providing summative information about the Security Aspects Letters to help teams understand their responsibilities and what that means for the way they work.
  8. Providing support and guidance to project teams for security-related activities (e.g., ensuring that bid packs and other media are appropriately redacted, protectively marked, and their distribution managed accordingly).
  9. Ensuring ITAR access to controlled information assets is recorded and controlled in accordance with policy. Keeping a register of the access and using security tools/reports to support monitoring of access.
  10. Working with Product Owners/Project Managers to ensure build records are maintained for our products with the correct security labels.
  11. Conducting security briefings to Thales personnel to ensure that a culture of security awareness is maintained and that staff understand their roles and responsibilities in respect of security.
  12. Issuing regular communications on security matters to ensure that SIX UK staff are updated with changes in legislation or policy and the emergence of specific security issues or threats.
  13. Controlling and facilitating the distribution of sensitive information assets internally to the business and with third parties.
  14. Controlling sensitive physical assets (e.g., cryptographic or media) in accordance with policy.
  15. Conducting audits and reporting on the status of information and physical assets.
  16. Supporting the conducting of investigations into breaches of security.
  17. Maintaining personal and business awareness of Government, Defence, Commercial, and our business Corporate security legislation, rules, and policies.

Requirements:

  1. Detailed knowledge of security requirements across the defence and commercial sectors.
  2. Experience of HMG's Contractual Process, Security Policy Framework, DEFCON 649, 658, DEFSTAN 05-138, and the Cyber Security Model.
  3. Knowledge of Security Aspects Letters, F680 and F1686 applications, ISO 27001, and The Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification.
  4. ITAR experience.
  5. Eligibility to obtain Security Clearance for this role.
