Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Associate to join our Education team at Birketts. The successful candidate will have a strong academic background and a minimum of 8 years' PQE as a qualified Solicitor. They will have a good level of experience working within the education sector and an interest in business development.
Key Responsibilities
- Advising higher and further education institutions, training providers, independent schools and academies on corporate law, charity law, governance, regulatory and funding issues.
- Assisting with and project managing legal due diligence, drafting and reviewing principal transaction documents, and assisting with disclosure exercises.
- Providing governance advice and carrying out constitutional reviews for further education corporations, higher education institutions and academy trusts.
- Co-ordinating banking/finance and real estate work streams, and advising on the statutory dissolution process.
- Assisting with applications for registration with the Charity Commission and Office for Students.
Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor of at least 8 years PQE
- Strong academic background
- Good level of experience of working within the education sector
- An interest in business development
