Job Title: Class 1 HGV Driver

We are seeking an experienced Class 1 HGV Driver to join our team at ASD in Edinburgh. As a leading metal stockholder and processing supplier in the UK, we offer a diverse range of ferrous and non-ferrous products.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out driving and related duties involved with the carriage of goods to and from ASD client locations. This will include ensuring safe and efficient driving, overseeing the safe unloading of vehicles at customer premises, and checking load security and weight distribution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out driving and related duties involved with the carriage of goods to and from ASD client locations.
  • Oversee the safe unloading of vehicles at customer premises.
  • Check the load security and weight distribution according to latest safe working practices.
  • As required, work mobile equipment to load and/or unload vehicles.
  • Follow best practices for fuel efficient driving.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Actively take responsibility for keeping vehicle clean and tidy.
  • Identify potential health and safety hazards in the workplace.
  • Ensure vehicles are in safe condition and are operated in a safe manner.
Requirements:
  • Full DCPC.
  • Experience working in a flexible, results-oriented team environment.
  • Ability to read written instructions and record accurately work carried out.
  • Understanding and experience of EHS requirements in a warehouse or distribution environment.
