Safety Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Manager to join our Engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving our Safety Management Plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of the Safety Management Plan across the organization.
  • Establish and maintain a just safety culture, ensuring that all employees understand and adhere to safety policies and procedures.
  • Develop and review safety performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Confirm that all changes to products, systems, and services have undergone thorough safety assessments and have received necessary approvals.
  • Lead the promotion of a safety culture across the organization, including developing and implementing awareness campaigns.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in implementing safety management systems and promoting a safety culture.
  • Formal training or qualifications in safety management or a related field.
  • Experience in Goal Structuring Notation (GSN) and the creation of safety cases.
  • Minimum of 5 years of functional safety management experience.

Desirable:

  • Working knowledge of JSP185 and DEFSTAN00-056.
  • Experience of embedding safety management systems within the Defence or Maritime Industries.
