At Finning International, we're seeking a talented Power Generation Engineer to join our Electric Power Team. As a key member of our team, you'll play a vital role in responding to customer service requests, diagnosing equipment problems, and providing comprehensive details to allow us to construct quotes in a cost-effective manner.

As a Power Generation Engineer, you'll be working within Finning's industry-leading field service department, catering to the largest CAT dealer in the UK and Ireland. You'll be at the forefront of our on-site diagnostic and repair capabilities for Caterpillar products, including the maintenance and repair of Gas and Diesel powered generators.

We're offering a highly competitive salary of £45,700 - £51,300, along with a range of benefits, including:

Key responsibilities of the Power Generation Engineer role include:

  • Providing an estimate of arrival time at customer sites in response to service requests, based on job instructions from the Branch.
  • Contacting customer site management to register arrival and presence on site, and ensuring knowledge of customer procedures to adhere to site requirements.
  • Diagnosing the likely cause of reported equipment problems, in discussion with customer operators/supervisors, and using specialised equipment to provide customers with information for the work required, and a comprehensive detail to allow Finning to construct a quote as requested by the customer.
  • Identifying the parts required to carry out the repair and requisitioning any parts, and determining expected time of delivery, so that a date and time of any necessary service re-visit can be agreed with the customer.
  • Undertaking repair and service work on the machine to the agreed work plan, removing and despatching components for specialist attention, and re-installing the original or replacement, to bring the machine up to the required standards.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Formally apprenticed trained (NVQ Level 3) and served as an engineer for a significant period in a relevant industry, i.e Electric Power, power generation, Marine.
  • Experience of a variety of Heavy Diesel and Gas powered power generation equipment essential.
  • A LDV driving licence.
