Job Title: Adult Phlebotomist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Adult Phlebotomist to join our team at NHS. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Obtain patient consent for blood sample collection
  • Perform venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols
  • Maintain accurate patient records on System One
  • Label, package, and store samples correctly
  • Use the specimen log to resolve discrepancies
  • Ensure timely sample delivery to the laboratory
  • Liaise effectively with laboratory staff at Sherwood Forest Hospitals
  • Work collaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary
  • Adhere to practice policies, including information governance and infection control
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Participate in practice audit as directed by the audit lead
  • Contribute to local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
  • Support and participate in shared learning within the practice
  • Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota
Person Specification:
  • Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check
  • System One experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Clear and polite manner in person and over the phone
  • Effective time management of self and clinics
  • Ability to work as a team member and autonomously
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow clinical policy and procedure
  • Competent in the use of Office and Outlook systems
Requirements:
  • Experience working with the general public
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting
  • Experience working in primary care or GP setting
Qualifications:
  • Relevant qualifications in venepuncture
  • Good standard of general education
