We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Professional to join our team in Brighton, working with non-verbal or minimally verbal children. The successful candidate will possess expertise in alternative communication methods, visual aids, and communication devices. This role involves implementing strategies to enhance communication skills, building confidence, and facilitating access to the curriculum.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Support non-verbal and minimally verbal children in developing their communication skills.
  • Implement alternative communication methods to aid understanding and interaction.
  • Collaborate with teachers and specialists to monitor student progress.
  • Create a supportive environment that encourages confidence and peer engagement.
  • Use visual aids and resources to facilitate learning and expression.
  • Provide feedback and support strategies for children struggling with speech and language challenges.

**Essential Experience/Attributes:**

  • Previous experience working with children that have special educational needs.
  • Experience in alternative communication methods and visual aids.
  • A DBS check registered on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work within a team.
  • The ability to be adaptable, remain calm in challenging situations, and respond to the needs of the pupils.
  • Must be able to understand and follow the school's safeguarding procedures and behavioural policies.
  • Qualifications relating to education, special educational needs, counselling, or psychology are not essential but will be looked upon favourably.
