Job Title: Senior Financial Modeller

Join the Energy Systems Catapult team as a Senior Financial Modeller and play a key role in assessing the commercial viability of new business models in the energy sector.

About the Role

The Senior Financial Modeller will be responsible for applying financial modelling tools and methods to evaluate the commercial potential of emerging energy business models. This will involve working closely with the private sector, SMEs, and government to develop and assess new business models that can help transform the UK energy system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage high-quality financial analysis tools and models to evaluate the commercial viability of projects and business models
  • Support the design, assessment, and testing of new business models in the energy sector
  • Work with colleagues to identify new opportunities for business model innovation and use financial analysis to inform decision-making
  • Lead on and influence business development, including medium and major category bids and proposals
  • Improve and develop the Business Model Innovation team's capabilities and assets, with a focus on commercial and financial appraisal techniques
Requirements
  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in a field such as mathematics, accounting, or finance
  • Proven ability to lead on projects and analyse large data sets to extract meaningful insights
  • Experience of helping bring new innovation and concepts to market with both large corporates and small businesses
  • Strong understanding of discounted cashflow methods, economic and financial appraisal, and statistical analysis
  • Understanding of the energy system, policy, and issues relevant to the energy transition
  • Genuine commitment to low-carbon energy and environmental sustainability
