About the Job

We are seeking an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to join our team as a Senior Power Systems Specialist. As a key member of our engineering department, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and implementation of power systems for state-of-the-art submarine projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Engineering Manager and/or external specialists during development and analysis of platform power systems.
  • Develop and maintain the competency and skills of the team, project plan and schedule project activities, while managing the resolution of any related issues.
  • Develop design solutions to agreed time, cost and quality in accordance with project or business milestones.
  • Understand contractual and performance requirements for various systems, and support definition and associated acceptance criteria and events through design, build, integration, installation and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure compliance against contractual requirements and that work is undertaken in accordance with company, safety, environmental, contractual and local business processes, standards, procedures and documentation.
  • Provide technical support to integrated performance and acceptance activities, including acceptance of equipment from suppliers through to system acceptance by the customer.
  • Support development of estimates for scope of work and resources required to deliver it in order to support bids, proposal development and project planning activities for various systems.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Knowledge:
  • Technical report writing skills.
  • Demonstrable experience of engineering lifecycle.
  • Experience of working within a relevant Engineering role to industry codes and standards.

Key Skills:

  • Technical reports and specifications.
  • Functional System Diagrams.
  • System design evidence.
  • System Safety Justifications.
  • Technical presentations.
  • System calculations, modelling and analysis.
  • Developing test procedures.
  • Attending factory acceptance tests.
  • Configuration and testing of equipment.

Working Arrangements

This role is 2 days per fortnight on site. The salary for this position is £79,173 per year, based on a 37 hour working week, which includes a 12 month contract plus extensions. This figure may be subject to change and does not include benefits or holiday pay.
